BL or Boys’ Love is now becoming a more popular genre for television series especially in Thailand and Taiwan. Its popularity even spread to the rest of Southeast Asia especially in the Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam. If you are new to this genre, we give you this list of 13 Best BL Series to binge-watch while on lockdown because of the covid-19 pandemic. You may also watch the video below if you prefer watching over reading.

Innocence is a TV series about a group of people finding love and romance in the urban and popular district of Silom in Bangkok. It’s a story of both heterosexual and homosexual couples. The BL part is a story of Keaton and Simon plated by Max Nattapol Diloknawarit and Ten Tosatid Darnkhuntod. They are childhood friends who were separated for a long time. Will they find love again?

Innocence is available on Netflix and other streaming sites. This was the first BL series I’ve watched on Netflix. Didn’t know about this genre at all until I came accross this series. Max is definitely one of the hottest BL actor.

WHY R U is a 2020 BL series which stars Saint Suppapong Udomkaewkanjana as Tutor, Zee Pruk Panich as Fighter, Tommy Sittichok Pueakpoolpol as Zon, and Jimmy Karn Kritsanaphan as Safiah. It’s a story about two people who initially do not like each other but ultimately got along and then love happens. This is still currently airing in Thailand.

Love by Chance is another Thai BL series based on the novel My Accidental Love Is You. It’s about the story of two people who met accidentally. Yes, it’s serendipity! It stars Perth Tanapon Sukumpantanasan as Ae and Saint Suppapong Udomkaewkanjana as Pete.

To be honest I am not into Pete and Ae in this BL series. I am more interested in the love story of Tin and Can played by Mean Phiravich Attachitsataporn and Plan Rathavit Kijworalak. Their story is really more interesting and well played. I am looking forward to seeing more of them in the next season.

He’s Coming To Me is not your typical BL story. It’s about two people who fell in love in a different circumstance. It’s a story of Mes, a ghost who has not reincarnated yet because he did not know the reason of his death. He was full of loneliness until he met a young boy who can see him. The boy has stopped going to the cemetery when his dad died and came back few years later. This is a story of friendship turned into something deeper.

Mes is played by Singto Prachaya Ruangroj while Thun is played by Ohm Pawat Chittsawangdee. They are both good actors. It’s a nice BL plot but I kinda did not like how it ended. I only wish it stopped in the emotional part. But it’s probably just me. Hahaha

Together With Me tells us the story of Knock and Korn prior to the “Bad Romance” series. It stars Max Nattapol Diloknawarit as Korn and Tul Pakorn Thanasrivanitchai as Knock. This is an adult version of BL series. There so many hot and sexy bed scenes here. It’s one of the most steamy BL series I have watched so far.

Overall, it is worth it to binge-watch. What I least like about this series is the presence of Plern from start to finish. She’s an eyesore. Her character is so toxic that it will make you want to crash the device you are watching from. HAHAHA. On the other hand, one of the best parts of this show is the presence of Yihwa. She is just so adorable. I want to have her in my life. She’s the best friend you can ever have.

Theory of Love is the most relatable BL series I have watched so far. If you expreience unrequited love, you should watch this. This will surely make you cry. I know that most of us do not get a happy ending but Third and Khai their happy ending so it’s something to look forward to.

The plot is a cliche but it is well-played so it worth your time. It stars Gun Atthaphan Phunsawat as Third who was secretly in love with his bestfriend and Off Jumpol Adulkittiporn as Khai, a womanizer and believes in a “no dating friends” concept. Will they get a happy ending? Well you knew it already. HAHAHA

Made in Taiwan, HIStory 2: Crossing The Line or Boundary Crossing is a story about passion and romance. The story revolves around four people: Wang Zhen Wu, Wang Zhen Wen, Qiu Zi Xuan, and Xia Yu Hao.

This Taiwanese BL series stars Fandy Fan, Zach Lu, Nick Yang, and Patrick Shih. The plot may be a cliche “I hate you then I fall for you” but the actors made it interesting. I love the chemistry of Qiu Zi Xuan and Xia Yu Hao here.

Aside from the obviously good looking actors, 2Moons is also a BL series full of love and romance. There are no sex scenes and very limited kissing scenes but the love story of Wayo and Phana will make you look forward to each episode. It stars Bas Suradej Pinnirat as Wayo, a freshman student and God Itthipat Thanit as Phana, a popular second-year student and the previous year’s Campus Moon.

The supporting casts here are equally good. The story ofMing and Kit is something to look forward to. It’s just too bad that the actors were replaced in the second season. There was an issue with the talent agency so the producer has to change all the artists. 🙁

Who can’t get over with Pete and Kao? Well, I can’t! Their tandem is probably one of the most remarkable in the BL genre. Dark Blue Kiss is a story two young male couple, Pete and Kao played by Tay Tawan Vihokratana and New Thitipoom Techaapaikhun respectively.

If you want to learn more about their love story, you should first wtach Kiss Me Again, that’s where their story blossomed. Kiss Me Again is also worthy of your time. When there’s Pete and Kao, there’s love. Hehehe.

2gether The Series is probably the most popular BL series of all time. It basically benefited to the current pandemic where most people are at home with lots of time to watch series and movies online.

2gether is a story of Tine played by Win Metawin Opas-iamkajorn, a handsome cheerleader who begged Sarawat played by Bright Vachirawit Chivaaree to be his fake boyfriend just to get away with Green who liked him. Sarawat is a campus heartthrob who actually secretly love Tine. Will they have a happy ending? Let’s see. It’s still currently airing on GMMTV. You can watch the latest episode here.

SOTUS is one of the most popular BL series in Thailand. This wholesome series makes you want to fall in love with Kongpob played bySingto Prachaya Ruangroj. He may not have the prettiest face but his character is what you will certainly like in real life. He fell in love with his senior, Arthit played by Krist Perawat Sangpotirat.

There is no bed scenes here. Kissing scenes are also very limited but you will fall in love with Kong and Arthit. Every episode is worth binge-watching. You’ll feel the pain of falling for someone who might not reciprocate your love. Did they get a happy ending? Watch it for yourself. I guarantee it’s worth your time.

TharnType is a hit Thai BL Series. In fact, it is considered as the most successful BL series in Thailand in 2019. It’s a story of two college dormmates, Tharn and Type. Type is homophobic who learned that his roommate, Tharn is actually gay.

This BL series stars Mew Suppasit Jongcheveevat as Tharn and Gulf Kanawut Traipipattanapong as Type. This is the second on the list of my favorite BL series of all time. The chemistry between Mew and Gulf is undeniably adorable. The story will also make you fall in love with both of them. Thanks to its success, it gets a second season this year.

Addicted Heroin remains my top favorite BL series of all time. It’s a story of two students who did not know that they are actually step brothers. Bai Luo Yin is indiferrent with his mother while Gu Hai hates his father. They became friends without knowing that they are actually somehow related.

I really like the story, the characters, the actors and the soundtrack of this BL series. Unfortunately, it did not get a proper ending as it got banned in China. Nevertherless, it is worth watching. You can read the novel to learn more what happened after. Just use your imagination. HAHAHA.

There you go, this is our list of the 13 BEST BL SERIES OF ALL TIME. Did you see any of these? Let us know in the comment section below.

  1. Addicted is AMAZING. I felt like I was watching a documentary at times, it felt so real. Some disturbing moments, but so strong.

2Gether was really fun and enjoyable.

TharnType is very strong, mostly Gulf. But I had some real problems with some of the storylines.

Dark Blue Kiss is heaven. New & Tay have incredible chemistry.

Love by Chance is pure bliss and it’s all due to Perth. This kid is an amazing actor.

WHY R U is also good.

Thanks for the list. I found some new series to watch. Happy Viewing!

    • Firstly I must say I watched them all because you recommend them. Best decision ever.

On a more serious note -well not really- I think in a world where Thai BLs instinctively follow the ‘school based love’ plot; 2 Moons the series’ plot and acting was much too weak compared to that of Until we meet again.
The series(UWMA) had a fresh plot that they effortlessly pulled off.Not to mention their pilot episode had me crying and feeling all types of emotions.
I think you should add it:-)
